Her identity was quickly determined thanks to the geolocation of her posts on Instagram, which is banned in the Russian Federation - and their coincidence in time with Durov's trips.

From Chertanovo to Dubai
Yulia was apparently born and raised in Moscow's Chertanovo district, a rather modest place for a future crypto investor and blogger. Her mother is also an enterprising woman, she is in business and used to own a children's clothing store.
Yulia has been involved in the family business since childhood, not only helping her mother, but also posing for photo shoots for the store. These first steps into the world of fashion and entrepreneurship laid the foundation for her future career.
In 2022, Yulia's life changed dramatically. She moved to Dubai, where her world was dramatically transformed: luxurious apartments, elite events and a new level of publicity. Four paragraphs in the article are devoted to Vavilova.
Also the subject of feverish speculation has been the lack of news from influencer Yulia Vavilova, who is believed to be Durov's girlfriend, since he was taken into custody. Like Durov, the 24-year-old blonde Russian lives in Dubai and accompanied him on a whirlwind tour of former Soviet republics including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan.
Indeed, some observers believe that it was her Instagram posts — complete with geolocation data — that alerted French authorities to his movements and allowed them to wait for him to land.
This has led conspiracy theorists to speculate that Vavilova is a Mossad agent on a "honey trap" mission to lure him into the hands of Western intelligence agencies.
After all, gaining covert access to the Telegram app would allow them to extract information that could prove invaluable in tracking down villains ranging from terrorists to money launderers.
